My name is Mohammad Reza Farhadinia (Persian: محمدرضا فرهادی‌نیا, click here for pronunciation), and I am from Iran. I recently graduated from the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) in the College of Engineering at the University of Tehran with a master’s degree. I studied Electrical Engineering, specializing in Field and Wave (Communications). My supervisors are Professors Mahmoud Shahabadi and Jalil Rashed-Mohassel, and I am a member of the Photonics Research Lab. My master’s thesis, Modal Analysis of Optical Integrated Waveguides in LiNbO3 Technology was successfully defended.

Previously, I interned at the Laboratory for Optics and Biosciences (LOB) at the École Polytechnique within the Institut Polytechnique de Paris. I worked on nonlinear optics projects, specifically involving Finite-Difference Time-Domain (FDTD) Modeling of Coherent Nonlinear Microscopy. Additionally, I gained experience in various programming languages, including C++, Python, and MATLAB, under the guidance of Dr. Nicolas Olivier (NOLab).

I hold a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) degree with 142 credits in Electrical Engineering (Communications). I also have a Diploma in Education (Dip.Ed.) with 30 credits from Shahid Rajaee Teacher Training University (SRTTU), which I completed in 2021. My undergraduate thesis focused on Plane-Wave Reflection from a Grounded Slab of Complex Media. During this research, I extracted formulas and performed simulations for complex materials, including bi-anisotropic materials, under the guidance of Prof. S. Mohammad Hashemi.

My research interests are:

  • Optics & Photonics -> Nonlinear Optics, Photonic Integrated Circuits (PICs), Optical Fibers, Lasers, Optical Frequency Combs & Microresonators
  • Quantum & RF Photonics -> Quantum Cascade Lasers (QCLs), Superconducting Quantum Circuits, Microwave Quantum Optics
  • Large-Scale Photonics -> Optical Interconnection Networks & Optical Neural NetworksOptics

Feel free to reach out to me at farhadinia0 (at) gmail (dot) com. I’m happy to chat :D
